BETA International is a Pan-African infrastructural inputs manufacturing and distribution holding company registered in Mauritius in June 2020. BETA International currently has two subsidiaries:
Zimbabwean based BETA Holdings and United BETA Zambia (formerly Kalulushi Clay Bricks (KCB)) of Zambia.
The group intends to expand into three other countries in Africa between 2022-2025 as part of its journey to be the dominant infrastructure group in Africa. The aim of the group’s expansion is to leverage the strengths of each entity, improve viability and profitability, access new markets and technologies, unlock new capital and to reduce risk.
The Group’s Strategy is anchored on product quality, customer service, end-to-end systems and technology, innovation and responsiveness to market needs.

Albert is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and has vast experience in business. He retired from corporate life a few years ago and now runs his own business as a Wine Merchant. Albert is the current Chairman for Glen Forest Memorial Park and serve on the boards of Mike Appel Holdings, Reacon
Investments, Hikstet Investments and Danai Wines. Albert is also the former Chairman of the National Social Security Authority (NSSA), Trans Zambezi industries, Lintas advertising, Finhold (now ZB holdings) and Rufaro marketing. Previously he also served as a non-executive director for Nestle Zimbabwe and Rio Zim. Albert is an active and avid Golfer.
Godfrey holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics (Hons) degree from the University of London and an MBA from the University of Zimbabwe. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Transport & Logistics (UK), the Institute of Directors (UK) and the Zimbabwe Institute of Management. He began his career in 1982 as a Graduate Trainee with British Rail (United Kingdom), before joining Afretair as the Marketing Executive in 1983, a position he held until 1986 when he was promoted to become the Commercial Director and then Chief Executive in 1991. In 1999, he joined the Civil Aviation Authority as its Chief Executive. He moved to Reacon Services in 2001 to become the Managing Director. In July 2003, he joined the BETA Group as the Group Chief Operating Officer becoming Group CEO in November 2004. He also sits on the Boards of BETA International Holdings, James North Zimbabwe, Premier African Minerals (UK). He is also the non- executive Chairman of Zimnat Asset Management, and TCT Limatada (Mozambique).
Freeman holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honors) degree from the University of Zimbabwe and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe, a qualification he attained in 1984. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). He is a former partner in the assurance and accountancy practice of Coopers & Lybrand (now Pricewaterhouse Coopers). He was the first black Zimbabwean to be admitted as a partner at Coopers and & Lybrand (1987– 1994) and only the second black Zimbabwean to be admitted to partnership in one of the “top four” accounting firms in Zimbabwe. He was pivotal in creating the Intermarket Financial Services Group which was involved in retail and wholesale banking, life assurance, mortgage finance, reinsurance and stock broking. He left the Intermarket Group in 2002 to lead a consortium which acquired a clothing manufacturer, Playtime Manufacturers (Private) Limited. Freeman has served as a board member on many quoted companies.
Jerome is the founder and Managing Partner of Inside – a private equity fund focused on supporting SME’s in the South East African region. Jerome has over 20 years of experience in private equity in sub-Saharan Africa, and has been involved in transaction and management of investees of various sectors, including ICT, hospitality, construction, insurance and agrobusinesses. Jerome founded Inside in 2013, to provide growth capital to SME’s and is actively involved in the value creation process of all Inside’s portfolio companies that are especially focussed on local manufacturing and circular economy. He holds a specific concern for environmental aspects which translates in the portfolio of Inside into waste recycling and renewable energy. Before establishing Inside, he worked with another African focused private equity fund, Adenia Partners where he was involved in landmark transactions such as setting up the insurance leader of Mauritius through M&A. Before that, he worked as a management consultant for Accenture in Europe where he designed and implemented management processes for large multinationals across multiple geographies and sectors. Jerome holds a MSc in Finance from EM Lyon (France) and a Law Degree from Paris II University
Rushil is the co-Chief Investment Officer at Inside – a private equity fund focused on supporting SME’s in the South East African region. As co-CIO, Rushil’s main areas of focus include deal flow management and value creation initiatives with the team on Inside’s portfolio. Prior to leading the merger of United Beta Zambia (formally Kalulushi Clay Bricks) with Beta Holdings, Rushil was appointed acting CEO to help stabilize the business and position the organization for its future growth. Rushil also worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) for 12 years as a transactions and restructuring expert. He worked on various assignments across many sectors in Zambia and the region. Rushil holds a BSc in Accounting and Finance from Athlone Institute of Technology, Ireland, and is a Member of CIMA UK.
Andrew is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and the Executive Chairman of Escapades (Private) Limited which is a family owned clothing manufacturing company. He also holds directorships in Culthope Investments (Private) Limited, Yelsto Investments (Private) Limited, Saycraft Investments (Private) Limited.
In a career spanning over 40 years Andrew has held senior positions in institutions operating in the corporate and international banking and venture capital sectors.
Jean Claude Permal is the Chief Operating Officer at Axis Fiduciary Ltd, a leading Mauritius-based independent trust company providing a full spectrum of fiduciary and corporate services to International clients. He is also an ICSA Affiliate and sits on the board of several companies including several Africa focused PE funds administered by Axis. He also holds an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Surrey (UK). Jean Claude brings over 25 years of experience in accounting, operations, administration, business management. Jean Claude has worked in various sectors such as manufacturing, construction, and retail including imports, exports, and sales, in Mauritius and Eastern Africa. In the financial services sector, he held senior positions in international financial services organizations in Mauritius. While working for a regulated credit institution in the Global Business sector of Mauritius, Jean Claude had responsibility for the accounting and administration functions and was also actively engaged in the credit and investment areas.
Takunda has more than 10 years’ experience working in the IT strategic transformation space. He is a holder of a BSc in Computer Science, BComm (honours) in Information Systems and a Masters in Commerce in information systems from the University of Cape Town. He is the current chairman of the ZIMCODE II IT Innovation and Performance thematic committee under the Zimbabwe National Code on Corporate Governance (ZIMCODE) committee, a member of the ZNCC Training School committee, and a member of the Computer Society of Zimbabwe (CSZ). He joined Beta International as the Group IT Manager on October 1st, 2021. Prior to his appointment, he worked in executive and senior management positions for Amalgamated Brands Group of companies (Cairns Foods, Lobels Bread, Cailogistics) and Riozim Group of companies.
Charles is a holder of a Bachelor of Accounting degree from the University of Zimbabwe and a Bachelor of Accounting Science from University of South Africa. He is a Qualified Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe. He trained with PWC. He joined Beta International as Group Finance Director on September 1st, 2021. Charles has more than 15 years of expertise in auditing and internal controls, financial and treasury management, as well as the development and implementation of strategic plans and initiatives. Before his appointment, he worked in senior finance positions for Innscor Africa Limited, Lobels Bread, Surface Wilmar and Olivine industries.
Kudzanai holds a Bachelor of Technology Honours in Production Engineering from Chinhoyi University of Technology and a Masters of Business Administration from Africa University. She has 15 years of experience in the construction industry. She started her career with Zimtile Pvt Ltd as a Graduate trainee and upon completion worked in the Quality Assurance department. In 2012 she joined Beta Holdings and worked as the SHEQ Manager where she spearheaded certification in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. She holds a Diploma in Clay studies with the University of Derby. In June 2021 she moved to Beta International as Research and Innovation Manager. She is currently studying for a Master’s of Science in Innovation, Leadership and Management with the University of York
Cynthia has a career spanning over a decade in the financial services sector in various business development, sales as well as marketing, and communications roles. She began her career as a Graduate Trainee -Global Markets at Standard Chartered Bank, gaining invaluable trading, relationship management, customer service, and marketing experience in various regional and local merchant and commercial banks over the years. Ms. Chizwina has also had exposure to the retail sector having worked for OK Zimbabwe as a Consultant before joining BETA Holdings in 2015. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, LLB and Masters in Business Leadership. She assumed her current position in June 2020 and is responsible for Sales, Marketing, Customer service, and Corporate Affairs at Beta International.
Robert (Rob) has over 25 years of experience in brick manufacturing and engineering. In his current role at BETA, he is responsible for all operational issues falling under bricks including production and engineering. Robert finished his apprenticeship with Iscor Iron and Steel (South Africa) in 1989 and from there moved to Murray & Roberts as a Maintenance Fitter and Turner. In 1991, Robert joined Willdale Bricks and assumed the position of Factory Manager for Factory Plant 50, 60, and 90 as well as Projects Manager-Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Manager where he managed and oversaw the completion of several projects. He was General Manager of Beta Bricks from 2002 and assumed his current position with BETA from June 2020 and is responsible for all engineering, materials handling, production, logistics, and maintenance functions for Beta International.
